David and Leesa Thompson have been PowerTime Members in Chicago for ten years! Like most of our Members, they got started with a Classic Membership on a Hunter 33 back then, so they could get as much boating in the summer as possible. Not long after, they were ready to buy their first boat and for them, it was a no-brainer to put their Hunter 39, “Wild Again,” into the Chicago boating fleet. Now, they’ve taken their love for boating and PowerTime in particular by opening our newest franchise location on the Southwest Florida coast.
For the past year, the couple has been planning their next venture with PowerTime, finally settling on Punta Gorda, at the very popular Burnt Store Marina, as their location. Now they are doing the relocation from the Chicago area to Southwest Florida. Upon conclusion of the Miami Strictly Sailboat Show, they will be taking the first boat in their fleet, a new Hunter 33, up to their base location.
David and Leesa, both have outstanding backgrounds in business and the unique experience of being PowerTime Members and Owner Members for many years. Now they get to put all that experience into something they really love!
PowerTime Southwest Florida will become an ASA Certified Sailing School and wants to add their second boat by the St Petersburg Boat Show, next December. That should keep them very busy this summer. They also see a great opportunity to promote the “Plus” aspect of the PowerTime program which allows seasonal members in Northern states to enjoy the PowerTime experience at other bases in warmer climates.
PowerTime has now added two new franchise locations in just the past nine months. The other being Portland, Oregon. Many prime locations in North America are still open for entrepreneurs to chart their own course in cities like Seattle, Vancouver, Montreal, New Orleans, Houston, Lake Erie and many more.
