Go for a Sailboat Ride at Annapolis Show

A “Take the Wheel Workshop” is being held for the first time during the United States Sailboat Show’s 41 year history.  Annapolis School of Seamanship will be holding the workshop. In conjunction with the event, PowerTime will be offering workshop participants rides on one of our Hunter powerboats based at our Annapolis fleet. This will be the 6th year in a row that we have shown our membership boating program at the show.

The new workshop is designed to give novice sailors some insight on what boat would be right for them. Through classroom presentations and an on the water experience, participants can begin to understand what boating experience may fit their lifestyle.

Three sessions of the workshop will occur once each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The seminar is a daylong event which kicks off with a Continental Breakfast at 9:00 AM. Several morning sessions follow covering topics which include information about the type of boat that is right for one’s goals, ways to get out on the water and information about how to prepare to be on board (i.e. lessons, licensing and boat registration). Following lunch, one hour boat rides will be offered at 3 different times during the afternoon. Participants will be able to choose from a couple of different styles of boats, like catamarans and racing or cruising monohulls, so that they can try out which boat may fit their need. The day is capped off with a Wine Tasting Social Hour which begins at 6:00 PM. A 2-day show ticket is also included in the workshop cost of $149.00 per person or $ 200.00 per couple.

PowerTime will be providing rides to participants on one of their mid-size Hunter cruising powerboats. A fully qualified Captain and mate will take guests out for an enjoyable hour-long sail within Annapolis harbor. Throughout the 3 days, guests will have 9 different opportunities to experience a ride on one of PowerTime’s fully equipped, professionally managed boats.

The seminar is being held for only 50 participants per day. Pre-registration is required and already the first two days have been completely booked.  Reservations for Sunday’s seminar are now being taken by calling the show’s office at 410-268-8828.

The United States Sailboat Show begins on Thursday October 7th and runs through Monday October 11th.  General admission tickets are $17 and parking is available at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. Shuttle buses will bring guests to the City Dock and the show’s entrance.
