PowerTime Orange County’s boating school, the Newport Beach Sailing School, was awarded the American Sailing Association’s (ASA) Outstanding Sailing School of the Year award again this year. Schools earning this award are in the top tier of boating education facilities in the USA. 20% of those awards were handed out the past three years to PowerTime Schools!
Captain Mike Kohl has been instructing PowerTime members at PowerTime Orange County for the last 6+ years. He is one of our ASA instructors who are also US Coast Guard Captains teaching for the Newport Beach Sailing School. He won the award for the Outstanding Sailing Instructor of the Year award who has also written a very good article on Man Overboard recovery which was featured in Sailing Magazine recently. He is truly a top educator who loves to share his passion for boating.

The most popular course for out of town sailors and Members from other parts of the country is the 7-Day Learn to Sail Vacation; a private course for a couple or family on one of the beautiful PowerTime Hunter 36 powerboats in the fleet there. With some significant preparation before hand you can earn your ASA 101, 103 and 104 in 7 days.
